Institute for Disability Studies to Hold Fair Housing Workshop in Laurel | Events

The University of Southern Mississippi Institute for Disability Studies will hold a workshop on fair housing and homeownership on June 26, from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Cameron Recreation Center located at 711 North 10th Ave. in Laurel.

The workshop will focus on fair housing, housing discrimination, the housing rights of individuals, how to file a housing complaint and other fair housing information as well as covering the basics of homeownership and the down-payment assistance services provided by the MS Home Of Your Own program. Refreshments will be provided.

The workshop is presented by IDS’ HousingSmart project, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which works to ensure equal opportunities in housing and to increase homeownership for Mississippians with disabilities.
