Free session for parents, caregivers of children with disabilities: Becoming An Effective Advocate | Events
Pine Grove Behavioral Health, a service of Forrest General, is offering a free session for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities. The session will focus on how to become a more effective advocate in school, healthcare and community settings, including how to locate resources, be organized, communicate effectively and resolve disagreements. The FREE session will be presented by Pam Dollar, Director of the Mississippi Parent Training and Information Center.
The session will be held on August 22 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Pine Grove Outpatient Services, located at the Lincoln Center, 1 Lincoln Parkway. A complimentary lunch is included. Seating is limited, so please register early. To register, call 601-288-4962.
About the Presenter
Pam Dollar has advocated for improved services and programs for people with disabilities for nearly two decades. She is a member of the Mississippi Special Education Advisory Panel and the State Rehabilitation Council and also serves on numerous advisory boards and committees related to special education. She also has a 21 year old son with autism.
