However, recent growth of Forrest General’s Hospice service is taking steps to change that. A fresh leadership perspective combined with a program that is increasing awareness for Hospice and how it can help during the most difficult time in a family’s life is making this important service better understood by patients and families alike.

Forrest General Selected for National Effort to Increase Breastfeeding Rates in US Hospitals

Forrest General has been selected to participate in Best Fed Beginnings, a first-of-its-kind national effort to significantly improve breastfeeding rates in states where rates are currently the lowest.  Although breastfeeding is one of the most effective preventive health measures for infants and mothers, half of US-born babies are given formula within the first week, and by 9 months, only 31% of babies are breastfeeding at all.&nbsp

Forrest General’s Spirit of Women announces 2012-2013 Spirit Girls

The 2012-2013 Spirit Girls, a program sponsored by Forrest General’s Spirit of Women, held their first meeting on August 12, introducing 173 young ladies from Forrest General’s 19-county area to the opportunities and fun offered by this eight- year program.

The Spirit Girl program was developed in an effort to reach young women through events targeted at promoting self-esteem and encouraging healthy lifestyles.  Spirit Girls participate in Spirit of Women events, fashion shows, focus groups, community and charitable events throughout the year.

Nan Fulmer, Patient Care Manager at Forrest General Hospital, stopped by WDAM Midday on Tuesday to talk about FGH receiving Top 100 Elite Status.

The Top 100 Elite Status is given by OCS Home Care. This is FGH's first time receiving the award. The award is given based on outstanding quality in three domains; quality patient care, process measure, and financial outcomes.

Fulmer also went on to say the FGH has grown into 19 counties and has opened up four office in Columbia, Picayune, Laurel and Richton.

Wesley Medical Group – Oak Grove opens with ribbon cutting ceremony

Wesley Medical Group - Oak Grove celebrated their opening with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and open house on August 9. As the first tenant of the newly constructed Wesley Medical Park, the family practice clinic will serve the Oak Grove area.  Guests were invited to tour the facility and meet the practitioners and staff, and representatives of the Area Development Partnership were on hand for a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony.
