HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- St. John Lutheran Church celebrated its annual Oktober Fest
Saturday. Celebrating only once a year on the first Saturday of October, the
church served over 16,000 people from 11 – 4 p.m.
"This is our 34th year and we do this to raise money for our
missions of which we have nine of them this year, so all the profits go towards
missions," said Pastor Dennis Rhoads.
The church has made it a tradition for years to celebrate
the German heritage in order to help a good cause.
"The ladies have been cooking for a week and making
wonderful bread, and pastries, and the sauerkraut, and the bratwurst and the
German potato salad is to die for," said Rhoads.
Oktober
Fest only happens once a year, so don't miss it next year.
