Southern Miss student Hersey named Truman Scholarship Finalist | People

Hattiesburg native and University of Southern Mississippi junior Brandon Hersey has been named a finalist for the prestigious Truman Scholarship.

Hersey, a political science/communications studies major, is the lone Southern Miss student selected and one of only four students from the state of Mississippi chosen as Truman finalists.

“This has been something I had been looking forward to for about a year,” said Hersey. “When completing my application, I saw a story forming of my life and how the things I had been a part of were shaping and guiding me to the places I wanted to go. This process, in a way, highlighted my past and illuminated my future.”
