The following is a press release from William Carey University:
The Winters School of Music at William Carey University will host a concert featuring premier concert organist Walt Strony of the Allen Organ Company on August 30 in Smith Auditorium at 7 p.m. The concert is open to the public and free of charge.
In addition to being an organist, Strony is also an Allen Organ Company voicing specialist, a recording artist, and pipe organ consultant. Since his public debut at the age of 18, he has performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well as in Australia, Canada, England, and Japan. Strony has established himself as one of few organists equally talented in playing theatre and classical organ, and has performed at multiple conventions of the American Guild of Organists and the American Theatre Organ Society.
Strony is the only living organists to have been voted “Organist of the Year” by the ATOS, and in 2011, he was inducted into the ATOS Hall of Fame. He has recorded over 30 albums with his most recent CD being recorded on the world’s largest theatre organ at the Sanfilippo Music Room in Barrington, Ill. Strony authored the book “The Secrets of Theatre Organ Registration,” and he designed an instrument manual called the Walt Strony Signature Series Organ.
