WCU student awarded Sigma Beta Delta Fellowship | Schools

The following is a press release from William Carey University:

Chelsey Maywalt of Carriere, who is currently working on her Master of Business Administration at William Carey University, was recently named a Dr. Richard Scott 2012 Sigma Beta Delta Fellowship Recipient. She was one of 11 students chosen for this honor, and she will receive $1500 to be used for her studies during the 2012-2013 school year.

Dr. Scott, for whom the fellowship was named, was instrumental in the formation of Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business, Management, and Administration. The purpose of  the honor society is to promote higher scholarship in business education and to recognize and reward scholastic achievement in business subjects. Students must rank in the upper 20 percent of their class to be considered for invitation to the society.

Maywalt, who graduated from Carey in May with a major in business administration and a minor in management/marketing, currently works as a graduate assistant in the WCU alumni office. She was named Miss William Carey University 2012, which is voted on by the student body as the student who best represents the values of the university. Maywalt was also Student Government Association president, a member of Carey Connection, a member of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, and named Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She also received the Alumni Association School Spirit Award at Honors Day 2012.
