The following is a press release from Hattiesburg School District:
Mrs. Watson's classes have been learning about citizen education, as well as the rights, duties and responsibilities as citizens. The students learned that it is their responsibility to care for their fellow man and take care of the community. Each class voted on a service project and will spend this week carrying out those projects.
5th period class (pictured) presented a bike and clothes to a representative from the Salvation Army for their adopted Christmas angel. Each class will do a presentation this week.
The projects are as follows:
- 1st period: Donating supplies for Southern Pines Animal Shelter
- 3rd period: Donating toys for a 1, 2 & 4 year old who lost their home in a fire
- 4th period: Donating teddy bears and Christmas cards to the Special Care Unit of Bay Street Nursing Home
- 5th period: Adopted a Christmas tree angel and bought a bike and clothes for the child
- 7th period: Made Christmas goody bags for those families who have to spend their holiday in the ICU waiting room of Forest General hospital
