Carey baseball camp prepares young players

The following is a news release from William Carey University:

The 2013 Bobby Halford Baseball Day Camp was held this week, June 10-14, at William Carey University’s Kennedy Sports Complex, allowing young players, ages 7-12, to improve their skills and learn new techniques. The camp was being instructed by WCU Head Baseball Coach Bobby Halford along with Ben Smith, assistant coach, and Matt Carter, graduate assistant.

"Run for Terrod" 5k Run/Walk will be held Kamper Park starting at the large pavilion. The 5k Run/Walk begins at 6:30 p.m. Day of race registration and shirt pick up begins at 5:30 p.m.

Hattiesbutg & Petal YMCA Memorial Day hours

The Petal & Hattiesburg YMCA will be OPEN May 27 from 8 a.m. til 2 p.m. in recognition of Memorial Day.

However, there will be no classes, no summer camp, and no child watch.

Southern Miss Coach Monken to visit Alumni Chapter in Waynesboro

New University of Southern Mississippi Head Football Coach Todd Monken will visit Waynesboro on June 4, for the Southern Miss Alumni Association Southeast Central Mississippi Chapter’s annual meeting.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Waynesboro Wayne County Library located at 1103A Mississippi Drive. Cost to attend is $12 per person and includes a barbecue chicken or pork dinner. Door prizes will also be given away.

The  Pine Belt Fiber Artists and Producers will meet, April 20 at 11:30 a.m. at A Stroka Gene-us Alpaca Farm. So if you like to knit or crochet come join us and meet fellow knitters.

Bring a dish to pass for a pot luck lunch and the project you're working on.
If you're not working on anything, come anyway and learn something new.
If you interested in learning how to knit/crochet come to learn the basics and be hooked on the craft.
Bring your own yarn and needles/hook or purchase at the farm.
